We are the student & young adult group at Crown Terrace Methodist Church, in Aberdeen, Scotland.

We want to be a welcoming community, following the pattern of Jesus’ hospitality. Already, we have many nationalities represented in our group from all walks of life. So whether you’re in Aberdeen for study, work or holiday, we hope you’ll find a welcome with us! Oh, and by the way, ‘young’ is quite a stretchy term in our eyes!

God
Although Christianity in the UK is experiencing somewhat of a downshift, God is still in control. Our preachers have rightly stressed that the church must repent if something is going to change. What does repentance signify to us? We want to learn to trust in Him and to cooperate with His spirit, sharing His feelings and desires. If we get desperate enough to know Him, hungry enough to be trained and tested by Him and thirsty enough to enjoy His presence in prayer and meditation - then He might indeed begin to raise up a Joshua generation in this land. And we can be witnessing a tiny (or not so tiny) start of the process!

Much of Christian life is about fellowship. Our hope and aim is that YAF should grow into a circle of friends where each one is accepted and appreciated. And each one, in turn, may learn to appreciate others. Professionals in their initial stage of career quite often have to move from place to place - and so do students and even young parents. In a few years many of us will be far away from Aberdeen. Yet who knows whether some of the folks you meet here will not remain your friends for life? Your contribution to YAF in terms of ideas you would like to share, opinions you would like to defend, and activities you would like to propose or organise will influence and shape not only this group but the wider church fellowship as well.

We’re
not a monastic community (though we do pray!). We want to engage with the world,
because it is where we live and it is where God calls us to serve and witness to
his love for us.

We are a Methodist society of Crown Terrace Methodist Church, Aberdeen. In addition to our own activities, then, we are involved in the life of the wider church.
